Daily Devotion for 5/12/11 Growing Stronger Through Change Part II

Good Morning Folks, and the lesson continues :) Here's Part II from yesterday's devotion

Today's Topic: Growing Stronger Through Change Part II
Scripture Text: Philippians 4:11

"I have learned...to be content"

We have all learned that you can not escape change nor the stress associated with it. So here are some steps we can use to help handle it:

1. Choose your battles wisely: Take a look at these questions: Do you instinctively give in to fear and oppose change, even when it might benefit you? Do you keep throwing yourself across the tracks, hoping to stop the freight train of reality? Do you think that no issue is too small to be ignored? Waging war on too many fronts always results in fatigue and defeat, so choose battles big enough to matter.

2. Try to become more adaptable: What's your most common response to change? Do you drag your feet? Do you have a "have to" attitude? Do you only do what's necessary? Once you stop caring, life loses its sparkle, and ironically, you become overwhelmed with even more stress. So learn to become more resilient. It's a process that takes time. Whatever state you are in, be content.

3. Welcome new experiences: If you're moving forward in life your surroundings will be constantly changing. If you don't see any changes, that means you're going in circles. Continuing to cling to today's comfort is only done at tomorrow's expense. Take the bull by the horns! Plunge in and rely on God's grace to help carry you.

4. Learn to live with uncertainty: Always struggling to "stabilize" in a constantly changing world is like trying to push water uphill-as soon as you get tired and stop, it runs back down over. Learn to live with loose ends; "wing it" a little more, instead of struggling to make sure that life always happens on your terms.

These are some wonderful tips to think about. I hope this lesson is helping someone that is struggling through change.

Well fam, I'm always here if you need me! Love me some you!

Peace and Blessings
