Daily Devotion for 5/6/11 Do what you're called to do!

Hey Fam! Happy Friday...I'm excited for today's Devotion.

Today's Topic: Do what you're called to do!
Scripture Text: John 3:27

"A man must be content to receive the gift...given him from heaven"

We love to quote the promise: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phillipians 4:13) But that promise does NOT mean that you can do ANYthing that you want to do, or whatever someone else is already doing. No, Paul is saying you do anything God calls you to do. For each assignment or task that he delegates you with, he also offers his assistance to help you get through. This verse is actually used to set and stay within the boundaries of what God's called you to do. Don't try and undertake things that are not a part of His will for you. That right there is wisdom. God wants you looking to Him for answers, not others. Now that doesn't mean that you can't learn from others, it just means the plan that will lead you to success must come from God.

What is God's will for your life? Find it, do it, otherwise you'll put yourself through unnecessary hellish situations. You'll find yourself frustrated, confused, competing, and comparing yourself with others. "A man must be content to receive the gift...given him from heaven" If you read the previous verses you'll discover that some of John's disciples were getting upset because Jesus was baptizing too, and the crowds were leaving John and flocking to Him. However, because John was secure in his God-given identity and calling, he didn't become fearful or jealous. He displayed a different attitude-one we should all take to the heart. He said "I can only do what I have been divinely authorized and empowered to do...I must be content with that gift and calling"

So just in case you didn't know, the same goes for you, and me! :)

Be Blessed Family!

Have a wonderful weekend. I'll be on travel with the fam this weekend so say a little prayer for me :)

Love y'all
